Anthony Gallagher, from Birch Hill, didn’t appear at Letterkenny District Court as Gardai outlined details of the incident at 3am on April 22 last year.
Garda witnesses recalled seeing 48-year-old Gallagher swerving all over the road on the N56 outside Dunfanaghy.
And in the townland of Faugher, Gallagher drove his English-registered Peugeout 607 into the ditch.
Gallagher was arrested and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station where he was abusive to officers, telling one of them: “I’ll get you.”
A blood reading later found Gallagher had 154mcg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
He was also found guilty of failing to produce his driving license and failing to have insurance or produce it for Gardai.
Judge Paul Kelly banned Gallagher from driving for a total of five years.
