DONEGAL County Council may be forced to close a “state of the art” reservoir just 12 years after it opened, it was claimed today.
The Tirconaill Tribune reports that residents in Rathmullan and the surrounding area have been forced to buy bottled water or travel to Milford and Letterkenny to fill up.
“”The dogs won’t drink the water in Rathmullan,” Ray resident May McFadden tells today’s paper.
The Environmental Protection Agency has ‘condemned’ the water supply, asking the council to connect the seaside town to the Milford mains, it is reported.
Residents today said they had been assured the water from the Meenreagh reservoir is drinkable.
The Environmental Protection Agency says the Rathmullan supply will have to close due to contamination.
