It’s going to be a busy weekend for Letterkenny AC. On Friday night, the club will hold a table quiz in the Old Orchard Inn at 9 pm. A good night’s fun is on the cards and all members are asked to come along and support the event.
On Sunday, the club will be stage its annual St Patrick’s Day 5K road race in association with The Pulse Nightclub at 11.30 am. Registrations will be taken at the Aura Leisure Centre from 10 am. The race will start close to Gallagher’s Hotel and will finish at the Market Square, with the loop of the town being done twice. Refreshments and presentation of prizes at Aura afterwards.
There were plenty of black and amber vests among the large field of runners in Saturday’s Bundoran 10 mile road race which was won by Richard Gorman in 55:48 in extremely windy conditions. Barry Meehan was the first LAC runner home when posting a time of 60:26 to finish 20th overall. He was followed by Neil Faulkner (24th in 60:44), Brian Ferry (33rd in 62:24), Raymond Birch (42nd in 64:14), Paul McMonagle (68th in 67:05), John Conlon (71st in 67:13), Sean McEwen (88th in 69:08), Paul Cosgrove (94th in 69:33), Marie Boyle (117th in 71:55), Gerard Mullen (122nd in 72:29), Monica McGranaghan (137th in 73:42), Gabriel McCrossan (76:34) and Noel Lynch (272nd in 79:40).
Meanwhile, Ciaran Crawford was the club’s best performer when finished seventh in a time of 18:18 in the Finn Valley 5k which was won by Finn Valley’s Dean Toland in 16:35 on Sunday morning. Other LAC runners in action in what was the third race in the series were Irene McFadden (50th in 21:00) and Jimmy Gildea (155th in 26:54).
There was no winner of the club’s lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn at the weekend were 2, 7, 14 and 21. The two match three winners, Aoife McGonigle and Paul McConnell each win 40 euro. This weekend’s jackpot will be 740 euro.
