ADULT MENS FOOTBALL
Both Senior and Reserve panels get their All County League campaign underway on Easter Sunday when Ardara travel to Connolly Park. The south Donegal club have been one of the top sides in the county for a number of years and have All Ireland winner Paddy Mc Grath in their ranks. Training continues for the senior and reserve panel at 7-00 on Tuesday and Thursday in the club gym and everything has been geared towards the beginning of the league season for the past number of weeks. Any players who have not paid their club membership must do so before the beginning of the season. Any outstanding membership will be collected by Paul Mc Laughlin (Fildara) at training.
LADIES FOOTBALL
Ladies Football will continue outside on Tuesday’s and Thursday from 8pm to 9pm, please bring football boots. All newcomers welcome.
U16/U14
U16/U14 Girls continue training on Wednesday’s at 5:15pm, those in 6th class or above are able to attend this session. Each session €2 and those attending are asked to bring suitable training gear for outside, along with mouth guards.
U12
U12 Girls continue to train on Wednesday’s at 4:15pm, newcomers are encouraged to attend this session, as there continues to be new faces at the training each week.
U10/U8/U6
U10/U8/U6 Girls continue to train on Saturday mornings, please note that from Saturday the 9th of March this training will begin at 11:15 and end at 12:15. Coaches will be present from 11am, with the session begin at 11:15am. U10/U8 will be spending part of the session outside, weather dependant and are asked to bring suitable clothing.
COUNTY UNDER 14 GIRLS PANEL
The club would like to congratulate Aoife Mc Colgan who made her debut for the Donegal U14 team, last Saturday in a challenge game against Mayo. Well Done Aoife
UNDERAGE BOYS
An under strength minor side travelled to Burt for the opening game of the Northern Board League on Sunday morning. The boys started brightly but suffered a double blow when losing Matthew Crampsey to injury, and Patrick Mc Grenaghan picked up a second yellow card, before half time. Burt struck a couple of goals early in the second half, and Malin were unable to recover from the setback and were beaten by a scoreline of 6-11 to 0.5. Malin team and scorers were J. Collins, R. Doherty, M. Crampsey, M. Doherty, J. O Neill, C, Byrne, T. Byrne. D. Mullarkey (0.5). D. Mc Laughlin (0.1), J. Mc Laughlin, P. Mc Grenaghan, E Hegarty, D. Mc Carron. Sub used was T. Mc Laughlin. Lifford will be the visitors to Connolly Park on Saturday for the next game in the competition, throw in at 4.45
Training continues for the Under 6 age group in the club, gym on Sunday mornings from 10 to 11-15. The sessions are based on GAA Fundamentals; a Croke Park initiative based on research aimed at bettering your child’s coordination (including hand eye) balance, agility and basic fitness in a fun filled environment. It is also an introduction into the basic skills of Gaelic games. All children are welcome to attend.
Training for the Under 8 age group takes place in the club gym from 11 to 12-30 on Sunday mornings also in the club.
This is followed by training for the Under 10 age group, which runs from 12.30 to 1.30.
The underage 16-football squad are currently training in the club gym on Tuesday at 5.00 and in the Malin stables on Saturday evening at 7.00
Under 14 training continues on Monday from 5-6 and on Thursday from 4.30 to 6.00.
The Under 10 panel had their first outing of the season when they took on Urris in the indoor competition on Saturday.
OFF THE WALL
“Off The Wall” is the exciting new Indoor initiative launched by CLG Bord Inis Eoghain, to be held over the next 6 weeks. The aim is to improve the skills of our U12 players, where skills are performed with both right and left feet and hands and are scored on either a time or points basis. For this challenge, skills include, kick pass from various distances aiming for target on wall, quick reaction & accuracy fist pass at 3 targets. Kick for score on the move from different positions and finally Zig Zag soloing at speed. HURLING
Training continues for girls and boys continues at 5-6pm for under 6’s and under 8’s and 6-7pm for under 10’s and 12’s. Each session costs 2 euro and all equipment is provided. EASTER CAMP
Malin GAA club are running an Easter camp for boys and girls aged from 5 to 13 starting on the 3rd of April and running until the 5th. Camp co ordinator is Charlie Byrne and all coaches in attendance have been garda veted. Each child will recieve an O Neills football and an Easter egg. BIG BREAKFAST
Malin GAA will be running “The Big Breakfast” on St. Patrick’s Day from 9.30 am to 2pm in the Clubhouse. €5 for Adults and €3 for Children, a great way to start St. Patrick’s Day before heading to the parades!
LOTTO
Congratulations to Pauline Mc Colgan, 25 Bunn, Glengad who scooped this weeks lotto jackpot of €600. Pauliene matched the sequence drawn, which was 7-5-6-3-1-4-2. The winning envelope was sold by Ciara Mc Laughlin. Shantla who earns herself €20. This is the 5th time that the jackpot has been won within as many months, which proves it is well worth to try. BAZAAR
Big thank you to everyone who supported our Annual Bazaar in St. Patricks Hall on Friday night, and to anyone who generously donated prizes for the event. Special thank you to Packo Mc Laughlin and Natalie Zola O Meara who were the chief ogranisers and ensured that the night ran smoothly. The event was organized to raise funds for the Under 14s trip to Leeds later in the year. Some of the prizewinners on the night were, Thomas Mc Geoghegan, John Crua, Siobhan Mc Lauglin, John Mc Laughlin (Rustard), Jacqueline Houton, Elizabeth Bambrick, Stephen Mc Laughlin (Davy), Liam Grant, Sean Diver and Martin Lafferty. Christina Mc Laughlin was the winner of the hamper in the “Like and Share” competiti0n on facebook.
IRISH NIGHT
The Inishowen Board are hosting an Irish Night in our clubhouse on Friday 15th of March. Performing on the night will be the Malin GAA traditional music group (fresh from their appearance on Scor Encore on Sunday night), Malin GAA Irish dancers (who will feature in the same programme in the coming weeks), our own Eimear Mc Colgan, Lauryn Mulholland from the Buncrana GAA club, Moville GAA ballad group, JP Bradley from Carndonagh GAA club, the Gweedore Traditional and ballad group who are All Ireland Scor finalists and Niamh Mc Glinchey from Lavey, Co Derry who is an All Ireland Scor winner. Entry is only €5 and a supper will also be served. Patrons are advised to come early as doors open at 8.30 and proceedings get underway at 9 o clock sharp.
CLUB REFEREE
Congratulations to club referee Shaun Mc Laughlin who will be the man in the middle when Fermanagh host Armagh in the Ulster 21 Football Championship during the week.
CLUB SHOP
The Malin GAA club shop will be open in the clubhouse on Saturdays from 12-2 and on Sundays from 11-15 to 1-30. There are a large selection of club merchandise in stock, which can be purchased on the day. Also the club will submit an order to the suppliers on the first day of each month for any club stock, which is currently not available in the shop. Please note that the replica shirts are loose fitting, not the tight fit that the senior side wears. Malin GAA are opening a NEW TO YOU shop in Malin in the coming days with all money received going to help fund the under 14 trip to Leeds. So why not start your spring cleaning and put any unwanted clothes into a large sack. More details will be available shortly on where to drop them off.
MATCH DAY VOLUNTEERS
Your club needs you!!! We are looking for volunteers to give 3 hours of their time during the season to help man the club tuck shop during home games. Duties include serving tea, coffee and snacks. If we can get enough people on board to help share the workload, it would mean you would only be required to help out for just one game during the entire season. WEDDINGS
Congratulations to club member and former reserve team member Aiden Doherty who got married at the weekend and also to our under 14 coach and member of the senior backroom staff Brendan Monagle who weds our ladies secretary Seana Hume at the weekend. It didn’t take Seana long to realise that the only way a Derry woman was going to get her hands on the Sam Maguire was to marry a Donegal man!! Best wishes to both couples from all at the club.
