Downtown United 1 Glenree United Reserves 1
Downtown took the lead in the 4th minute through Gio Peoples with a right footed volley at the back post. Glenree equalized 15 minutes into the second half through Ian Mc Elhinney after he rounded the Downtown keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net.
Both teams pushed hard for a winner but neither could come up with the goods.
Best for Downtown: Andrew Doherty and Glenree: John Mc Clafferty
Gweedore United Reserves 1 Deele Harps 3
This game played on a cold day in Gweedore saw the men from Lifford edge closer to the league title when they came from behind to claim the three points. The game started with the home side playing good football and holding possession for the first 20 minutes. United’s early good play was rewarded with a goal in the tenth minute when Daniel Okraska put a good ball through to Sean Paul Mc Mahon who drove into the bottom corner of the Deele net to make it 1-0. Deele began to settle into the match and got their equaliser in the 28th minute when Conor Caterson scored from close range following a corner and a goal mouth scramble. The visitors took the lead on the stroke of half time when Caterson again headed past Whoriskey from a corner to make it 2-1 at the interval. In the second half both sides cancelled each other out with half chances at both ends. Deele scored their 3rd in the 79th minute, once again from a corner Gallagher finished well to ensure the points for the visitors. Team performances from both sides.
Referee: Gerry Rodden.
Keadue Rovers Reserves 3 Tullyvinney Rovers 2
Keadue maintained their good run of form after by Tullyvinney at Central Park. On what was a very poor day for football it was Keadue who scored first. After a strong run Daniel Gallagher was fouled in the box and Donal Rodgers dispatched the spot kick. Tullyvinney to their credit came back into the game and deserved their equaliser on fifteen minutes when Michael Friel headed in from a corner. By twenty one minutes Tullyvinney were ahead with their striker Renato scoring a fine solo effort. It remained that way at half time. Into the second half and the home side picked up the pace and had more possession. On fifty five minutes Donal Rodgers scored a long range effort to bring the teams level. On seventy minutes Keadue striker Darragh Hanlon was fouled in the box and another spot kick was awarded, again well finished by Donal Rodgers. Good team performances from both sides. Keadue’s Donal Rodgers doing very well with a hat trick. Referee: Andrew Mullin.
Downtown Cup Quarter Final
Mulroy Celtic 0 Erne Wanderers 3
Newly crowned league champions Erne made the long trip to Tri a Loch to take on Mulroy in the quarter final of the Downtown Cup. The away side took an early lead when Liam Reynolds rose highest at the back post to nod home. You would’ve been forgiven for thinking the flood gates would open and Erne run away with it, however it was the home side that created more chances in the first half, good link up play between the two front men resulted in the visiting keeper having to pull off some fine saves, particularly from the impressive Packie Mc Elwaine who hit a great strike from outside the area. Erne who are always very comfortable in possession played some nice football with Sticky Ward a constant menace up front. The second half began as the first finished. Erne doubled their advantage when Diarmaid Slevin dispatched the penalty down the middle. The home side had a few sniffs at goal with Mc Grory very unlucky not to score from a header. Erne added a third with ten minutes remaining through Peter Mc Gonigle. Mulroy gave a very good account of themselves throughout. Packie, Talbot and Faulkner best for the home side, Diarmaid Slevin impressive throughout and Ward proved why he is one of the best in the league with a good performance

Gweedore Celtic 0 Glenea United 0
On a bitterly cold day at An Screaban a draw was a fair result. As in a lot of derby matches, form goes out the window and this was no exception. Both defences were well on top with the result the keepers were not really tested.
The best chance of the first half fell to the home side on twenty minutes. Anthony Blair made his way past the Glenea defence and into t he penalty area but his shot was parried by the keeper into the path of David Ward who blasted the ball over the bar. The second half continued with few clear cuts chances. Ownie Mc Garvey had a chance for Gweedore near the end but his shot was blocked down by a defender. Best for Gweedore were Paul Duggan and Paul Mc Bride. A team effort by Glenea. Referee: Paddy Duffy
Castlefin Celtic 2 Lifford Celtic 2
Castlefin and Lifford played out a frantic 2 – 2 draw in Arctic conditions on Sunday in Parkview. Castlefin started the game the brighter and they took the lead in the 20th minute when Simon Mc Glinchey played a ball through to Barry Tourish who finished well. The home side continued to press but failed to trouble the visiting keeper. Lifford began to work their way into the game and equalised when Marcus McDonald headed home a Kevin Mc Brearty free kick with 35 minutes played.
Castlefin began the second hand in similar fashion to the opening half. In the 48th minute Castlefin regained their advantage when Barry Tourish tapped in from four yards after a Ronan Tourish shot. However Lifford responded and were awarded a penalty in the 50th minute after a foul in the box, Jude Patton converted the spot kick. Both teams pressed for a winner but both defences stood firm.
Best for Castlefin: Anthony White and Emmett White. Best for Lifford: Lee White. Referee: Kevin Logue.
Kilmacrennan Celtic 1 Lagan Harps 2
Kilmacrennan suffered their fourth defeat on the bounce at hands of an industrious Lagan Harps.

Eamon McHugh was on hand at the back post, from a corner kick, to give the away side a one nil lead. Kilmac were unlucky not to equalise in the dying moments of the first half when a volley from Johnny Doherty rattled the Lagan post.

The striker finding the corner of the net from twenty yards. Kilmac were undone with five minute remaining when their keeper Mark Gallagher made an outstanding save from a lagan free kick, however two Lagan forwards reacted quickly and scrambled the ball into the back of the net. Drumoghill FC 0 Curragh Athletic 1
Drumoghill welcomed Curragh to “The Moss” on Sunday on what was a wintery day throughout the league. The Finn Valley men made the most of their trip to the Lagan Valley by harvesting three valuable points in their quest for promotion. A tightly fought affair seemed to be heading for a draw when Marcus Oliver produced an individual moment of brilliance, beating two defenders on the edge of the box before firing an unstoppable shot into the Drumoghill net. One nil it finished and Oliver’s strike sends Curragh level on points with Cranford, with a game in hand, as they chase Donegal Town for the Division One Title.
Cranford United 1 Donegal Town 2
In cold and wintery conditions Donegal Town left Cranford with all
three points after this top of the table clash. Cranford playing with the
aid of the breeze in the first half edged the chances with nothing
clear cut for either side in the opening 25 minutes. The breakthrough
came on 30 minutes when Philip Buchanan headed home a Seamus Carr
corner. He almost doubled the lead 5 minutes later when Marty
McLaughlin and Brendan Giles combined to cross but the Donegal Town
keeper did well to cut out the danger. Donegal Town began the second
half strongly and got to grips with the game. Enda Mc Hugh made two
excellent saves to keep the score at 1nil. With 25 minutes to go a
vicious delivery into the area ended up in the top corner, deflected off a
Cranford defender. The game could have went either way at this stage
but with 10 minutes to go the Donegal full back Marty Mc Garrigle hammered
home a 25 yard thunderbolt following a corner to give the away team
all three points. Team performances from both sides. Referee: Joe Mc Hugh.
CT Ball Division Two
Kerrykeel ’71 FC 2 Whitestrand United 1
Kerrykeel put in a great display to beat their local rivals in what was a brilliant derby played in great conditions at a sun drenched Rabs Park. A minutes silence was observed before the game for Frances Barrett who sadly passed away during the week. The ‘71 started the stronger with both Seimie Friel and Johnny Friel causing Whitestrand problems. The deadlock was broken from the penalty spot on fourteen minutes after Paul Friel had handled in the area. Mark Friel stepped up to send Brendan Friel the wrong way. The ‘71 were two up five minutes later when Ryan Mc Cleary and Brendan Friel got their wires crossed. Johnny Friel took advantage and cooly tapped home. Kerrykeel had chances to extend their lead with both Mylie Mc Bride and Cathal Martin making Brendan Friel work hard in the Whitestrand goal. The Strand upped their game and the lively Michael Sweeney brought the away team back into the game when he finished well after great work from Kevin Loughrey.
The second half started at a fiery pace with Whitestrand going close through Paul Lynch and Eamon Martin. Martin Mc Ateer hit a brilliant freekick on sixty five minutes which rattled the bar and shortly afterwards Fergal Friel went close. The away side threw everything at Kerrykeel in the closing stages with Michael Sweeney having their best chance when he hit a great strike at Mark Mc Conigley, however, the Kerrykeel stopper pulled off a great save. A great result for the ‘71 who keep their promotion push on track. Best for Kerrykeel ‘71: Cathal Martin, Brendan Callaghan and Patrick Mc Conigley. Team effort from Whitestrand United Referee: Paddy Martin
Copany Rovers 0 Gweedore United 2
Gweedore United came to Killowen Park strong favourites , Copany on a bad run of form were going to need to be at their best keep Gweedore at bay. The game started brightly with both sides trying to get ahead, Glen Harron and David Graham proving good outlets down the flanks. Neither side could make the breakthrough and went in scoreless at half time. Gweedore started the second half strongest bringing a couple of good saves from the excellent Stephen Doherty who was keeping Copany in the game . After 65 minutes Gweedore finally got their opening goal with a free kick from Brian Gallagher somehow finding it’s way into the Copany net. Gweedore doubled their lead on 70 minutes with a tap in by Declan Friel. The game finished 2-0 and a deserved 3 points for Gweedore against a much improved Copany side. Team performance from Gweedore with Stephen Doherty and Thomas Given standing out for the home side
Letterbarrow Celtic 4 Dunlewy Celtic 2
In snowy conditions at Tymeen a young Letterbarrow side came out on top in a very entertaining encounter. Dunlewy started brightly and a brilliant save in the tenth minute from the Letterbarrow keeper, Kieran Gildea, denied the visitors an early lead. Shortly after, Letterbarrow took the lead when Kevin Lowther thumped home a header from a Stephen Graham corner. The home side went two nil ahead on thirty five minutes when Pauric McHugh curled a free kick into the top corner. The second half started with chances for both sides but the visitors pulled a goal back in the fiftieth minute when John Cannon capitalised on a defensive mix up to poke home from close range. Two minutes later Dunlewy were level when Daniel Cannon lobbed the keeper with a terrific effort after breaking the offside trap. Letterbarrow settled well after that and created a number of good chances. The home side wrapped up the points in the eighty eighth minute when Paul Murrin scored from a free kick.
