Almost 80 volunteer Scout leaders converged on Stranorlar Scout Den to participate in an action packed, fun filled day eager to learn some new scouting skills.
Leaders came from all over Donegal and even as far afield as Dungannon and Newry for what was the largest training course of its kind.
Participants were instructed on basic scouting skills such as:
. Knots & Lashings
. Campcraft
. Compass & map reading
The group also learned the various types of fires that can be used safely in the outdoors using natural materials.
Course Leader, Lifford based Scouting Ireland trainer, Joe Boland said that the day was a fantastic success due not only to the large numbers of participants but also because of the calibre of Hugh McCallan, Vincent Connolly, Charlie McChrystal, Gerry Doherty, Joe Mottram, Grainne Boland and Gary McDaid as well as the location which was ideal for the type of programme to be delivered.
Joe said a big thanks must go to all the instructors, participants, 6th Donegal (Stranorlar) Scout Group for their Den and in particular Martin Flanagan for the refreshments.
