Children at a Letterkenny school have had a number of near misses crossing a road, leading to calls for upgraded safety measures in the area.Jimmy Kavanagh

There is already a pedestrian crossing outside Ballyraine National School.

But Colr Jimmy Kavanagh said further safety measures are needed.

He is to raise the matter at Monday night’s meeting of Letterkenny Town Council.

Among his suggestions will be the provision of warning lights at the crossing.

“There have been a number of incidents or near misses involving children while they were crossing on the pedestrian crossing,” said Colr Kavanagh.
