There was little to suggest the goals feast to come in the opening twenty minutes as chances were few and defences on top.Gleneely broke the deadlock when Eddie Mcnamee advanced unchallenged to unleash a twenty five yards effort which took a deflection on its way to the net.Minutes later they doubled their lead after a Drew Crumlish corner was headed home by Danny McLaughlin.But Moville got one back after a fine solo run by John Gillen took him past the defence before rounding Jordan McLaughlin to slot home.They equalised on the stroke of half time when Jason Mclaughlin collected a throw in and drilled a fine low shot to the bottom corner.For long periods of the second half it looked as if this was the way the game would finish but it exploded in the last ten minutes.On 80 minutes Moville took the lead when conor Lafferty converted a penalty awarded for a trip in the area.Minutes later Lafferty added another after superb play from McLaughlin presented him with a close range tap in.Gleneely hit back and reduced the deficit to the minimum on 85 minutes when McNamee played a one two with Ronan Kearney and advanced to see his twenty five yards effort take a deflection on its way to the net.But Moville sealed it with minutes remaining after substitute Danny Murphy advanced past three men into the area before sliding the ball low to the net.
Buncrana Hearts Res 1-2 Dunree United
Dunree returned to the top of the table with this narrow victory over bottom of the table Buncrana in a game played before a sizeable crowd in Maginn Park.Buncrana were first to show with Gerard Boyle unleashing a twenty five yards effort which was well saved by Paul McGettigan.Dunree responded with Conor McBride flicking a corner just wide before Liam Baldrick set up James Doherty but his effort was well saved by Caolan McGonagle.Midway through the half Buncrana’s Ryan Doherty saw his cross shot tipped over at the angle of post and bar by McGettigan.Dunree then broke the deadlock on 29 minutes after David Mclaughlin squared the ball to the unmarked McBride and he drilled low past McGonagle from ten yards.Buncrana replied and a superb Declan Fullerton pass found Kieran McDaid but McGettigan advanced to smother.Dunree started the second period on top with TJ McKinley failing to hit the target when well placed before Philip McGuinness saw his cross shot cleared off the line by Ryan Doherty.They continued to press and on 63 minutes David Laird saw his close range effort turned around the post by McGonagle. Buncrana got back on terms against the run of play when Boyle unleashed a spectacular thirty yards effort which flew into the top corner.Dunree hit back four minutes later when Laird broke on the right and saw his initial shot parried by McGonagle but he kept his composure to square the ball for the unmarked McLaughlin to tap home.Buncrana tried hard but the nearest they came was when Boyle unleashed another stunning long range effort which McGettigan managed to turn around the post by McGettigan.
Rasheney FC 3-0 QPS
Rasheney ‘s victory has really thrown the title race wide open and they have given themselves a great chance in the process.The visitors had the first chance but Raymond Buchanan had his effort deflected wide by Emyln Doherty who picked up an injury in the process and had to be replaced. Rasheney then took the lead in their first attack on 13 minutes when John Grant fed Donal Kelly who surged through the middle and when his initial shot was parried by Conor McColgan he followed up to slot home.The point replied with Buchanan firing a long range free just over before another free found Kevin Wallace but he too headed over.The point had the first chance of the second period after a Karl Donnelly corner was scrambled clear by the home side.Minutes later Buchanan flashed a cross across the face of goal but there were no takers before the same player got on the end of Stephen McCarrons cross but blazed over.Rasheney replied and Kelly evaded two or three tackle before his shot was blocked.Just after the hour mark the home side increased their advantage when they were awarded a penalty for handball which John Grant converted.The point tried to respond but Seanan McColgan hooked an effort from eight yards wide before they suffered a blow when McCarron was sent off for a second yellow card.Rasheney then made it three nil after Kelly robbed a defender and advanced to lift the ball over McColgan from fifteen yards.The point kept pushing and Dean Barron had two great efforts one which was saved and another just wide before Wallace was off target with another long range effort.
