GARDAI are warning motorists to slow down on Donegal’s roads over the next 24 hours due to freezing temperatures.
It’s already -3C in many inland areas of the county and temperatures will fall to -6C.
The freezing conditions will continue throughout Thursday, before the next weather system from the Atlantic shifts the easterly cold front – bringing with it a huge deluge of rain on Friday.
Met Eireann has issued weather warnings for both systems.
Donegal County Council staff are gritting roads overnight and in the morning, but once again warn that drivers should be cautious.
Friday is looking like a wash-out – and there is a possibility of snow on Thursday night/Friday morning.
