THE NUMBER of suspects in theft crimes in the county released on bail today has increased to seven with two more freed.

Tommy Connors, a 29-year-old man with an address at 4 Canal Road, Letterkenny, and Daniel Connors, 38, from 7 Canal Road in the town, were arrested after a Garda investigation in the townland of Carrygawley at the weekend.

In the incident a number of items including tools were taken from the property on the outskirts of the town.

The Connors are facing theft charges.

Earlier today a 20 year old Letterkenny man charged in connection with the burglary of a pensioner was also freed on bail.

Matthew Lafferty, with an address at Ballykeeran, Kilmacrennan appeared in handcuffs at Letterkenny District Court charged in connection with the robbery of a 69 year old woman in Kilmacrennan last Friday morning.

Two Derry youths, who cannot be named, were also freed on bail today and banned from Donegal after being arrested in Bridgend on Sunday following the alleged theft of copper from an Eircom depot.

Also freed on bail were Caoimhe Sweeney, 15 Foyle View Crescent, Moville and Kieran Breslin, 40 Ard na Guala Duibhne, Moville.

They faced charges relating to the alleged break-in at a home in Crawford Square in Moville on Sunday.
