ARRESTS: TEENAGE THEFT SUSPECTS BANNED FROM DONEGAL

January 21, 2013

gavel1TWO teenagers arrested after an alleged theft incident yesterday have been banned from Co Donegal.

The suspects appeared at Letterkenny District Court this morning.

Neither can be named for legal reasons. They are juveniles from the Derry area.

Gardai told the court that the young men were arrested in Bridgend at 8.45am yesterday on suspicion of theft and criminal damage.

Both juveniles were charged at Buncrana Garda Station with theft and criminal damage after an incident at an eircom depot in Bridgend in which a Garda car was rammed and two gardai slightly injured.

The mother of one of the juveniles wept during the hearing.

The court heard that one of them said ‘I’m sorry’ when he was charged with the offences at Buncrana Garda Station yesterday afternoon.

Gardai did not object to bail and the youths were released on their own bonds of €250.

Solicitors Patsy Gallagher and Frank Dorrian for the two juveniles agreed that their clients would stay out of Co Donegal except for court appearances.

They were remanded on bail to appear before Buncrana District Court on February 14.

A number of other cases relating to other incidents are due to be heard at Letterkenny District Court today.
