Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 21/01/2013:
Seniors:
The senior championship is starting early this year due to the rule change by Croke Park.
The weekend of the 9th/10th February has been the date confirmed to start it with the draw/format to be decided..
More details will be posted when available.
Farewell:
The club bid farewell to Ladies chairperson Amanda O’Reilly who has decided to call it a day in London after eight years and return home to Co Tyrone. Amanda will be having a going away party in the Shawl, South Harrow on Friday 1st February were all club members are welcome to come along and give her a good send off.
Also best wishes to club member Michael Keating who is off to OZ for a stint of travelling.
Gerard Boyle 50th:
Former club legend Ger Boyle got a pleasant shock last Saturday in his home town of Trim, Co Meath, with over a hundred family and friends waiting to surprise him for his 50th birthday party.
Ger played for the club from 1986 t0 1996 and made many friends from his time here and quite a number of his former team mates made the trip to see the big man.
People like Timmy Mc Bride, Ownie Bonner, Raymond Jackson, Michael Carr, Stevie Faulkner, Cormac and Rosemary Mc Garvey, Paul Hegarty, Stevie Keane, Maurice Carr, Michael Donohoe and Gerry Fowley were all on hand to offer their support and condolences.
All at the club wish him a fantastic 50th and thank him for his contribution and service to the club over the years.
St Bridgets Cross Making:
We are having a St Bridgets cross making night on St Bridgets night fri 1st Feb at Tir Chonaill Gaels club.
There is Irish stew and soda bread, Irish music from local musicians mainly TCG youth members.
Fr Michael Egan is to come down and bless the rushes on the night.
Colette (London School of Irish Music) has agreed to come along, she teaches a lot of the TCG children and will organise them to play some traditional music.
A £5 charge for adults, children are free, proceeds will go towards ( HCPT the Pilgrmage trust ) which helps Disabled people on pilgrimage to Lourdes.
Club Workshop:
There will be a workshop to gather the view of all London GAA members on Saturday 26th of January not Saturday 19th as previously stated. The workshop will take place in Ruislip starting at 3pm and will run for 2-3 hours. The workshop will cover a wide range of themes, It is essential that all clubs are represented and provide an input into the Strategic Plan as this is a plan for London GAA as a whole and therefore could you please forward this email onto to all club member
