RAPHOE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE
MINDFULNESS MEDITATION:
“Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday”-Author unknown. The Family Resource Centre is hoping to run a short course on Mindfulness Meditation and is interested in determining interest in such a course. Meditation can help to reduce the stress levels that cause worry. In today’s environment we could all do with being able to switch off from the anxieties that we carry with us throughout the day. Numerous studies have shown that meditation has health benefits. Many of these benefits are related to the decrease in stress that occurs through meditation. It is anticipated that this course will fill up quickly so to secure your place please telephone 074 9145796.

DOG FOULING
Thank you to all responsible dog owners who do clean up after their dogs in Raphoe. Sadly not all owners are cleaning up after their dogs. We all know that Dog Mess is dirty, unpleasant; a potential risk to health and quite rightly it concerns most of us wherever we live. In recent times this problem seems to have increased all around the town and on popular walking routes such as the racecourse and Strabane and Derry Road areas. All owners of Dogs are responsible for the cleaning up any mess left by their animals. Dogs fouling on footpaths, at or near schools, playing fields and other areas where children or the general public are can cause a severe health risk. Always clean up after your dog. It is simply no longer socially acceptable to allow your dog to foul public spaces.
Poop-scoop Always carry your poop-scoop or a suitable bag with you and always clean up after your dog. This is your responsibility towards your fellow citizens, and stops dogs (and their owners) getting a bad reputation.
The Law.
Section 22 of the Litter Pollution Act 1997 makes it an offence for the person in charge of a dog not to clean up when their dog fouls in a public place. Please act responsibly – clean up after your dog and dispose of the dirt in a suitable sanitary manner; use a paper bag. Dog dirt is a health hazard and some day your child might be affected by someone else’s failure to ‘do the right thing’. Failure to clean up your dog’s waste can lead to a €150 euro “on-the-spot” fine or on summary conviction to a fine of up to €3,000 euro.

The Raphoe Club will host its annual boxing showpiece in the Cathedral Hall on Friday 15th March and club coach and matchmaker Gary Mc Cullagh hopes to have 14 star-studded contests down for decision on the night that will feature now fewer than 6 Ulster, 3 Connaught and 4 National Champions in action on the night. A very special thanks goes to our main sponsor Mike Kelly (building & Scaffolding Contractor) and to all the generous business people of Raphoe for their continued support and to Ronnie Goudie of the Cathedral Hall Committee for all his help. More details of this major tournament will appear in the local press in the coming weeks.
