Drivers are being warned to take extra care as snow began falling heavily across the county this evening.
Blizzard conditions are already setting in across many parts of the county with more snow forecast throughout the night.
This pictures shows how precarious the roads have become with one motorist going into a ditch at Meenaroy (pictured right).
Donegal County Council have gritted roads this afternoon and are hoping the grit will melt snow.
However the heavy falls means that the council is being forced to grit the roads again this evening and throughout the night.
Gardai are warning motorists to take extra care and not to travel unless necessary.
Many roads however, are passable but caution is being urged if people are driving.
Temperatures are set to dip to -1c across the county meaning the snow is likely to stay in many places once it freezes.
Further snowfalls are forecast for throughout the weekend.
