TERRORISTSA TERRORIST alert has closed Lifford Bridge this evening.

Security forces on the Tyrone side of the bridge are dealing with a bomb alert sparked by dissident terrorists.

Gardai are assisting the PSNI in dealing with massive traffic chaos in the area.

It may be several hours before the alert is cleared.

The PSNI in the North say British Army Technical officers (ATO) have been tasked to Bradley Way in the Co Tyrone town.

“Police are currently in attendance at a security alert at Bradley Way, adjacent to bridge in Strabane. Traffic is currently being diverted through the town away from the Bypass,” a PSNI spokeswoman said.

“ATO have been tasked.”
