A local public representative feels thieves who broke into up to 11 cars in Letterkenny are involved in identity theft.
Tax books and other insurances documents were stolen in the series of raids in Glenwood Park on Thursday and Friday.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle, who lives in the area, said he feels the theft could have a sinister element.
He says he does not feel the break-ins were just ordinary car thefts but something more serious.
He said he fears the valuable items could be sold on or used to duplicate other documents.
