JACKIE CROSSAN PREMIER DIVISION
Cockhill Celtic Yths 0-6 Glengad United
The league leaders turned in a superb second half performance to dismantle the home challenge and keep themselves in line for a first ever premier league title.
The opening half was a dour tight affair with defences on top and no chances at either end.
The defining moment of the half arrived when Glengad took the lead on 40 minutes after Stephen Mclaughlin broke on the right and crossed for John McDaid who sneaked in at the back post to fire past Leo McColgan.
But on the restart four goals in a ten minute spell stunned the home side.
Mclaughlin began the rampage when he burst past two defenders before shooting past McColgan from close range.
Minutes later a quick counter attack saw JG Mclaughlin release Patrick McDermott and he finished superbly.McDermott then added another after being releasd by Charlie Byrne he played a one two with Terence Doherty before slotting home.
Then on 58 minutes Mclaughlin raced clear onto a Ruairi Doherty clearance to drill past McColgan.
The home side tried to respond and Garbhan Friel had a twenty yards effort well saved by Martin McLaughlin. But Glengad had the final say when substitutes Seamus Doherty and Daniel McDaid combined with Doherty’s cross headed home by McDaid to complete the scoring.
