Clonmany Shamrocks 3-2 Illies Celtic
Illies stunned the home side in the 6th minute when Niall McDaid latched onto a long ball up the left ad fired low past the advancing Peter Devlin.
But the home side got bac on terms on 15 minutes after Jason Devlin ‘s cross found Brendan Devlin who glanced a superb header past Graham Doherty.
Illies replied with Stephen McHugh seeing his thirty yards effort tipped over by the back tracking Devlin before the same player got on the end of James McGonagle’s cross but miscued from twelve yards.
Clonmany took the lead minutes before the break when Brendan Devlin controlled in the area and fired low to the corner from twelve yards.
The home side increased their lead on 54 minutes when substitute Mark McLaughlin broke on the right and crossed for Brendan Devlin to sweep the ball home and complete his hat trick. On the hour mark Paul Mclaughlin saw a twenty yards effort drift narrowly wide.
Illies battled well and reduced the deficit again after McHugh’s effort from twenty yards was parried by Devlin for McGonagle to slot the loose ball home.The home side dominated the remainder but were guilty of overplaying at times and both Brendan and Jason Devlin missed two good chances each to extend their lead.
Illies were always a threat on the break and the home side were glad to hear the final whistle and claim the points.
