A little Co Donegal school is getting a unique view of Ireland – thanks to a Canadian astronaut in outer space.
Pupils at Scoil Cholmcille in Cloughfin, Lifford, have been tweeting astronaut Chris Hadfield on board the International Space Station.
Commander Hadfield has just started a five month spell on board a Soyuz spacecraft where he will carry out a number of experiments.
And now he has befriended the primary school pupils at Cloughfin, Ballindrait and has even sent them pictures from Ireland and around the globe from space.
“During the week we saw photos of volcanoes, rice fields in Japan that were covered in snow and the bush fires in Australia.
“We even saw one photo of Dublin Bay taken from space,” explained the pupils.
The contact with outer space is being co-ordinated by teacher Fiona Farry.
