TEMPERATURES in Co Donegal will drop to as low as -5C tonight with forecasters predicting fog, ice and snow.
Both Met Eireann and The Meteo Times say snow could fall tonight – but this is likely to be confined to the hills of the county.
A warning about black ice on the roads tonight and tomorrow has also been issued.
While Britain is expecting large snowfalls this week, Met Eireann says the mountains of Co Donegal can expect a dusting of less than two centimetres of snow tomorrow.
Met Eireann forecaster Pat Clarke: “We’re really not in the firing line with any significant snow.
“Our issue is more of frost. It will be a cool and bright day today with daytime highs of 5C to 9C, but temperatures will plummet overnight to between -3C and -4C, leading to widespread frost and ice on roads by tomorrow morning.”
