Donegal’s most eligible young lady collected her cheque for €1 million after winning the Christmas Millionaire lotto draw – and revealing she was given her ticket as a Christmas present…along with a bottle of vodka!
The young woman, who is understood to come from the Falcarragh area, is just 24.
The young woman says she wants to remain anonymous.
She collected the cheque for the cool €1 million at Lotto Headquarters in Dublin last Friday.
The young lady says she plans to travel to the US but really wants to sit back and plan how to spend her cash wisely.
The woman bought the ticket at Sweeney’s Newsagent in Dungloe on December 15th but didn’t realise until January 1st when she checked her ticket that she had won.
The mystery winner also says she plans to continue working – for the moment!
The lucky Donegal lady will celebrate her 25th birthday next week, with €1,000,000 in the bank.
“I just can’t believe it,” she smiled in National Lottery offices today as she sipped a glass of champagne with some family members.
“I checked my ticket number on my new iPhone 5 on New Year’s Day but it’s only sinking in now.
“I got my ticket as a Christmas present with a bottle of vodka. The vodka’s long gone but the result of this ticket will last me forever and has changed my life.
“I intend to continue working, and go on holiday to the US, but apart from that, I’m just going to chill out and think about things.”
A fluent Irish speaker, she also said ‘Buiochas le gach duine a ghui comhghairdeas orm’.
