Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 17/12/2012:
Seniors:
It was another disappointing day for the club as they played a formidable Dr Croke’s team who were just too good for them on the day. It was the fourteenth time the Gaels have played in an All-Ireland club quarter final and it was the same old story. The players was just disappointed that they did not do themselves justice on the day as they know that they were capable of performing better than the score line suggested. However, the lads can still hold their heads high after another great season for the club after winning the championship, league and Conway cup.
Ladies Board:
The club ladies held their AGM last week and the following officers were elected for the coming season, Chairperson; Amanda O’ Reilly,
Secretary; Anne Marie Mc Gill,
Vice Secretary; Grace Cunningham.
Website and games updates; Mary Flaherty,
Social and fundraising organisers; Dara Davey, Shannon Williamson, Kayleigh Beasley, Ciara Rice and Niamh Bradley.
More details of events will be posted on the website in the New Year.
Xmas Greetings:
The club would like to take this opportunity to thank and wish all of our members, players, supporters and sponsors a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
2012 will go down in club history as a most memorable year with us achieving so much on and off the field and we all look forward to 2013.
Paddy Griffin RIP:
The club received the sad news that former club member Pat Griffen (Galway) died peacefully last week in St John’s Hospice, St John’s Wood, London. His requiem mass is on Friday 21st December at 12.15pm in the Scared Heart of Jesus church on Quex Rd, Kilburn.
Poker Night:
The club had a very successful poker night last Friday in the clubhouse with bookmakers Bet365 putting on another great show.
All eyes were on two time champion Maurice Carr who was going for three in a row, but he crumbled under the pressure and expectation on the night and had to hand over his Stetson hat and mirrored sunglasses.
Damien “Tuco” Donnellan outstayed the field to take the one thousand pound first prize from in second Neasden’s Billy Flynn, 3rd Peter Clifford Jun, 4th Jim Rice, 5th Joe Kelly and 6th Tom Corleone” Mohan. The club would like to thank all players who participated and to Brian Coleman and his Bet365 team on running the event.
