Donegal’s best-known amateur weatherman has given a 60% chance that the county will have a white Christmas.
As Donegal struggles to get above freezing, all the signs are that snow is not far away.
Now postman Michael Gallagher has given a 60/40 chance of us having snow on December 25th.
Michael revealed “People will laugh at me but it is actually too cold for snow at the moment.
“Having said that all the signs are that it is on the way and I’m still sticking by my prediction that we will have snow before Christmas.
“I think there is a 60/40 chance that we will have a white Christmas up here in the North West,” he said.
The postman from Glenfin, who studies nature to make his forecasts, says the animals are showing all the signs that snow is not far away.
“I have never seen the animals hunting for as much food and that’s a sure sign that a prolonged cold snap is just here.
“I saw the sheep all resting close to the hedges in fields and that is also a sign that they are feeling the cold,” he said.
