A Mayo GAA supporter was arrested after he got into a row with Donegal fans the day before this year’s All-Ireland Final.
Patrick Lackey, 42, became involved in some banter with fans in a pub in Letterkenny on September 22nd, 2012.
Gardai arrived at INK Nightclub after Lackey became aggressive and was arrested under Sec 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Solicitor Patsy Gallagher said his client was a keen Mayo fan and had become involved in what started out as genuine banter with Donegal fans.
“It was the day before the All-Ireland final between Mayo and Donegal and it got out of hand,” he said.
Judge Paul Kelly ordered a community service report be carried out on Lackey of Cratlagh, Milford and adjourned the case until February 11th.
“His behaviour between now and then will have an impact on my decision,” warned Judge Kelly.
