The fourteen workers at the Ostan na Rosann Hotel were told last night that they will NOT receive a cent of the €10K in wages they are owed.
The Dungloe hotel closed suddenly this week with bar staff, cleaners and other workers owed a number of weeks wages.
Management at the 48 bedroom hotel said yesterday the premises was closing until next spring but that staff would be paid any money due.
However Donegal Daily has learned that the company running the hotel, Nesbitt and Nesbitt Ltd, has now gone into liquidation.
Two members of staff were called in to meet director Malcolm Nesbitt last night.
The staff were handed letters informing them the company had gone into liquidation and that there was no funds to pay wages.
They were also told there would be a creditor’s meeting in January.
Last night one of the fourteen hotel workers left high and dry said they were bitterly disappointed by how they had ben treated.
“We cannot tell you how angry we are. We have been had.
“It’s bad enough that we have lost our jobs without notice but then to be left without the wages we are owed is just disgusting.
“Christmas is only a coupe of weeks away and we were dependent on this money.
“It may not sound like a lot to some people but we worked for it and most of it already had it spent.
“We’ve been told the tax man and other suppliers will get their cut so we might never see our wages now,” said the worker.
