Officials at the Letterkenny Gaels GAA Club were sifting through entries for last weekend’s draw when they found someone who had picked all the right numbers.
But the person who filled out the ticket didn’t give his or her name and address – they simply wrote St Vincent de Paul.
“The winning envelope contained no other information to assist the Club in identifying the mystery donor,” said the club.
“The winning Numbers 3, 12, 16 & 23 were drawn by the Club Committee on Monday night last and now the local Charity stands to receive a cheque for €1,450 which will be presented to them in the coming days.
“The Club is pleased to be associated with this timely boost for the local St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference of St. Thérèse.”
The story follows on the Club’s now famous search for a mystery Club Lotto Jackpot winner in August 2011 which also had a happy ending.
Brendan Duffy of Dromore, Letterkenny was completely oblivious to the fact that he had scooped €6,250 – because his surname wasn’t on the ticket and his telephone number was wrong.
Brendan finally got his hands on his cheque when he was presented with the money at a special ceremony in McGinley’s Bar.
