Inishowen Minor Final: Urris 1 – 10 Malin 1 – 07.
The Urris Minor boys claimed the Inishowen Minor title for the second consecutive year with a well deserved win over their counterparts from Malin. The 3 point winning margin didn’t reflect the dominance the Urris lads showed for most of the hour with only the poor finishing of the Straid boys for much of the match keeping Malin within touching distance. A late goal gave Malin the briefest glimmers of hope but the Urris lads did enough to get themselves over the line and once again claim the Inishowen crown.
Despite the somewhat shambolic display of shooting the Urris lads always had enough in hand dominating in all areas of the field for much of the match. This is the second trophy in a week for many of the lads who were also part of the Reserve league winning team that won the league in Glen last weekend.
Well done to all the boys, their mentors and to everyone who made the trip to Moville to cheer them on.
Reserve League Winners:
Congratulations to everyone involved with the Reserve panel who claimed the Division 3 Reserve league last weekend with a convincing win over Naomh Columba. The two teams finished level on points but the better head to head record gave the Straid lads the league title to cap off what has been an excellent year for all concerned.
A special vote of thanks must go to all the lads who played not only the Reserve game but also donned the shirts once more for the Senior game – no less than 8 of the Reserve team were willing to do this for the Club and that is something that shouldn’t go unrecognised and acknowledged. For the first time in quite a few years we have fielded a Reserve team in every fixture which is a remarkable achievement given the amount of lads who have moved to pastures greener in 2012.
So once again well done to all the lads who took part in the Reserve team this year, the team mentors and anyone who helped out with the team in anyway.
A.G.M – This year’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday, December 9th in the Day Centre, Cleagh. The AGM will get underway at 6.00pm and all club members are urged to do their best to attend on the night. Anyone who wishes to have motions considered on the night must have them with David Hession on or before Saturday, November 24th.
2013 will be a very important year for the club and having a strong committee in place is essential in seeing the club prosper over the coming 12 months.
