Motorists who were “driven around the bend” by a set of traffic lights have won their battle to get them moved.
Drivers in Letterkenny complained that a set of traffic lights were a driving hazard because they were erected on a bend.
There have been a number of minor accidents at the location which is close to the entrance to Century Cinemas.
The drivers complained that they were forced to slam on the brakes as they came around the corner to be met by a red light.
Now Letterkenny Town Council has surrendered and given the green light to moving the lights – just 30 yards down the road!
Lord Mayor of Letterkenny, Cllr Dessie Larkin said he is delighted that common sense has prevailed and the lights have ben relocated.
“We did have a situation at this location and I’m glad it has been resolved now. We want to encourage pedestrians to use this area but they have to remain safe while doing so.
“The previous lights were too close to the bend and the old traffic lights were on top of motorists before they knew it,” he said.
