DONEGAL anti-austerity protestors joined more than 12,000 people who marched against cuts through the streets of Dublin at the weekend.
“There was support from other protest groups around the country in attendance who approached us and congratulated us on the success so far of all the groups in Donegal,” said Joe Murphy from Donegal Action Against Austerity.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have not paid and will not be paying the household charge.
“I would also like to say that we will be fully in support of the unions’ call for a national day of strike, again though we will have to wait and see what comes from this because as we know the unions can be prone to blowing alot of hot air.
“There will be another day of protest on 5 Dec 2012 which is also budget day protest, I would like to ask the people of Donegal to support and attend that protest.”
The group is now planning to picket a meeting being held by Fine Gael TD Joe McHugh in Buncrana this Thursday.
