On Saturday the 1st of December Donegal Sports Partnership in conjunction with Gartan Outdoor Education Centre are hosting the Xcessible Outdoors Initiative to mark International Disability Awareness Day which falls on December 3rd.
The event forms part of an overall national event coordinated by the CARA centre for adapted physical activity and supported by the Department of Justice and Equality.
The aim of the event which takes place at Gartan Outdoor Education Centre is to encourage people with disabilities to come and try outdoor activities which they may not have previously had the opportunity to participate in.
Activities will include; orienteering, archery, climbing and other adventure activities. The sessions are being provided Free of Charge and there will be activities for children in the morning with the afternoon session focusing on adults.
Places are limited and booking is on a first come first served basis. Priority will be given to people with disabilities for this event but where possible additional participants will be accommodated.
