Naomh Columba News 19.11.2012
We start this week by commiserating with Kieran, Kevin & all on the minor team, after their defeat at the hands of Naomh Mhuire, Convoy, in Sunday’s county final.
An excellent first half saw a single point between the sides at half time, and the teams were neck and neck with ten minutes remaining, however two goals in quick succession from Convoy saw all hopes of a county title for Naomh Columba dashed. Fair play to everyone involved in a very good game of football, and hard luck to you all.
The final league game of the season takes place this Sunday, with Naomh Columba playing host to Urris. Reserves throw in at 1.30pm, and seniors at 3pm. The cheque presentation of €15,935.75 to Temple Street Childrens Hospital will take place in the Naomh Columba clubhouse on Saturday, December 8th, at 2pm. Everyone is most welcome to come along for this event.
A coffee evening will take place in the clubhouse on Thursday, November 29th, from 6-9pm. All proceeds are in aid of the Good & New bus to Galway for cancer patients. The Sam Maguire cup will be present, and a photographer will be in attendance for anyone who wants to get their picture taken with the cup. We would ask you all to come out and support this very worthy cause.
The 2012 underage presentation night is scheduled for Saturday, December 15th, in Meenaneary Community Centre. The Scór na nÓg Ulster semi-final is scheduled for Glenswilly on Friday, December 7th. Naomh Columba are represented in the quiz section by Brian Gallagher, Cormac Mc Ginley & Aidan Mc Gill.
We extend our sincere condolences to our past treasurer, Andrew Doherty, and the entire extended Doherty family on the death of Kate last week. Go ndéanfaidh Dia trócaire uirthi.
Many congratulations to John Joe Ellis & Paddy O’Byrne, who were joint winners of last weeks €6400 lotto jackpot. The winning numbers were 1. 5. 8. 28, and this weeks jackpot is now €2500.
