The staff team at Donegal County Childcare are upping their efforts this year to make the Presents for Percy Appeal an even bigger success than last year.
The team have launched the appeal for Christmas 2012 which aims to help local families in need of a little help with meeting Santa requests for their children at Christmas.
The Presents for Percy Appeal aims to collect a range of toys for children 0-14 years across County Donegal in time for Christmas.
Avril McMonagle, Manager of DCCC stated that ‘the Presents for Percy Appeal has been initiated by the DCCC team as a practical way of making a contribution to children and families in need of a little extra support at Christmas.
“We have enlisted the help of a number of family support agencies to act as distributors of donations to the Presents for Percy Appeal. Not only will this make a valuable contribution to the work of local agencies working with children and families, it will ensure that all donations are targeted to those most in need of support,” she said.
The DCCC Team have been working with organisations for the past month where children themselves have been drawing up their ‘wishlist’ for Christmas. The various ‘wishlists’ have been collated and are now widely available.
Agencies that will be distributing donations on behalf of the DCCC Presents for Percy Appeal will cover all areas of the county and include Parentstop, Carndonagh, Letterkenny and Donegal Town; Donegal Women’s Domestic Violence Service; St Vincent de Paul and a range of Family Resource Centres across the county.
People can either purchase presents from the list or alternatively you can donate money which will be used to purchase the more expensive items. The Presents for Percy Wish List is available on the DCCC website www.donegalchildcare.com and the DCCC facebook page and has been placed in the following stores across the county:
• Foys, Ballybofey
• Smyths, Letterkenny
• Proper Price, Donegal Town
• Bikes and Toys, Carndonagh & Bridgend
The County Childcare team are urging all early childhood services, schools, businesses, parents and children to get behind the appeal to make a real difference to children in your local area. No contribution will be too big or too small!
