A small group of people attended a vigil in memory of Savita Halappanavar in Letterkenny this afternoon.
A public inquiry has been demanded into the death of the 31-year-old dentist at University Hospital Galway who died after contracting septicaemia during a miscarriage.
Her husband, Praveen, said his wife asked for a termination but her request had been refused.
He is due to fly back to Ireland from India on Tuesday.
Gardai announced today they are now also investigating the death on behalf of the Galway Coroner.
A HSE investigation will try to determine if her life would have been saved if she had been granted a termination.
Members of the local Indian community attended today’s vigil.
Some of them carried signs reading ‘Never Again’ as they heard calls for legal clarity over the issue.
