A new source of funding has been allocated to provide support to local and community organisers and projects aiming to drive international visitors to Donegal for The Gathering.
Fund amounts will range from €500 to €2,500 with the objective of supporting Gathering events / projects that have the capacity to attract overseas visitors.
The fund is in response to the rapidly growing number of gatherings being planned across the country for 2013.
Donegal currently has 60 confirmed Gathering events that will take place throughout 2013 and this number is set to rise.
Various types of Gatherings will be considered for funding- it can include school reunions, sports clubs hosting overseas teams, music, cultural or business Gatherings involving overseas visitors. This list is by no means exhaustive.
Everyone can still organize a Gathering of their own, even if it’s something as simple as inviting one or more people to visit Ireland next year.
The Donegal Gathering continues to gain momentum with leading Donegal personalities, such as Daniel O’Donnell, Moya Brennan, Packie Bonner, Shay Given, Rory Kavanagh, Gerry Robinson already pledging their support to this exciting initiative. Visit donegalgathering.com to view these ambassadors.
