THERE’S nothing to beat the GAA for bringing ex-pats together around the globe.
So in Boston next weekend, the good people of Donegal Boston Gaelic Football Club will gather to celebrate 25 years of bringing the Donegal community together.
And the dinner will be even more special as Donegal manager Jim McGuinness and his captain on the field Michael Murphy are honoured as guests of the club.
A number of Donegal’s All Stars – past and present – and of course Sam Maguire will be making a special appearance.

- This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the club.
- The Club created history back in 1988 as the first team ever to win the New England Junior Championship on their first attempt.
- Titles Won: 4 Junior Championship titles (this year been the most recent as our junior team lifted the Pat Callaghan Cup – Pat Callaghan was a stalwart for the GAA in Boston for years, and still helped out on the board well into his later years. It was fitting that the inaugural Pat Callaghan cup go to Donegal, for Pat was a Donegal man himself.), 3 Senior Titles; The All American Intermediate title.
- Among well – known inter county players who represented the club are Kevin Cassidy, John Gildea, Rory Kavanagh, Declan Bonner, Donnie Mc Cole, Johnny Mc Cafferty, Adrian Sweeney,Eoin Wade, Ronan Mc Neilis, Ciaran Bonner, Padraig Gallagher, James Ruane, Kevin Mc Menamin, Martin Caulfield, Ryan Bradley, Ollie Reid and All-Ireland winning manager Jim Mc Guinness!

- Our Chairman, Paddy Mc Devitt was recently honored by the Donegal Association of greater Boston for his hard work and dedication to the club over the last 25 years. This year saw him elected as treasurer to the North American County Board and he is involved in promoting Gaelic games at an underage level in the north east. He is also a lobbyist for the undocumented Irish living in Boston.
