BREAKING NEWS: Customs officers and the Gardai in Co Donegal have smashed a drugs smuggling operation.
Drugs worth more than €140,000 was seized when they were posted to an address in Lettekenny yesterday.
In a follow-up operation a 28 year old man was arrested and is being questioned at Letterkenny Garda station.
The drugs, 4- Methylethcathinone, with an estimated street value of €140,000, was seized at a private house and weigh 4 kilograms.
4 MEC, is a synthetic stimulant that is chemically similar to Mephedrone.
Gardai across Donegal have been carrying out numerous searches as part of an overall campiagn against drug-delaing.
Officers raided a house in the Mountaintop area last night and this morning detectives were searching fields in and around the dual carriageway outside of Letetrkenny.
Gardai in Letterkenny are remaining tight-lipped about the operation.
