JUDGE DISMISSES PARKING CASE AGAINST WELL KNOWN LETTERKENNY TYRE COMPANY

November 6, 2012

A well-known Letterkenny tyre dealer has had a case of illegal parking struck out after it was revealed it did have a valid parking ticket.

Letterkenny Town Council brought the case against Pearse Road Tyres.

Judge Paul Kelly was told traffic wardens inspected a van belonging to the company on November 11th, 2011.

There was no ticket on the van which was located close to Larkin’s Lane – the site of the company premises.

Employee Ronan Gallagher told the court he had got a ticket but hadn’t put in on the van as another delivery truck was cuasing a huge backlog of traffic on the town’s Main Street.

Mr Gallagher had presented the ticket to the local council but on appeal it was rejected.

Solicitor for the accused Patsy Gallagher said he was annoyed and claimed he had not been told the council had the paid parking ticket.

The court heard the reason it was rejected was because the ticket had not been displayed on the vehicle.

However Judge Kelly dismissed the case saying he was satisfied the ticket had been paid.
