Letterkenny Golf Club News and Results by Ladies Club P.R.O. Karen McGlinchey 6-11-2012

Golfers are reminded that local winter rules are now in place and mats are obligatory to use on the fairways. They are not guaranteed to win you a turkey but on the positive side, everyone has to use them! They may be bought in the shop and cost €8 each. Ladies are also asked to use the online timesheet at all times and if changing times or removing yourself to notify your playing partners as a matter of courtesy and etiquette.
The Young At Heart social night in the Day Centre, Oliver Plunkett  Rd. is hosted this year by the Ladies Club on Tuesday 13th Nov. at 7.30pm. If you are able to attend or bring some home bakes it would be much appreciated. This annual event is enjoyed by very many of our senior citizens and all contributions are welcome.
The drive to get a Defibrillator for use in our club continues and you are asked if you have an old unused mobile phone to leave it in the collection box in the shop or bar. Please remove the sim card, as well as deleting all personal data and photos. Anne Condon is the lady to contact if you cannot find the box or indeed if you wish to make a financial contribution.
The Christmas hamper is due to be played on the 24th Nov. weather permitting, I hasten to add as the Competition Secretarys long range weather forecast doesn‘t reach that far!
The Ladies Club A.G.M. is scheduled to take place on the 29th Nov and you will shortly receive your agenda and details by mail. If you wish to put yourself forward for committee, please ensure you see the notice in the locker room and have your name entered on the list before the closing date. New people are always welcome with fresh ideas. Ask not what your club can do for you!
As part of the build up to the Centenary Year in 2013, Declan O’Carroll has written a book detailing the history of the club. Everyone is invited to attend the book launch on the 6th December. Further details of this event coming your way in the coming weeks. But if you are already thinking of a Christmas present for your nearest and dearest, this would be ideal gift for lovers of golf !
Don’t forget Browns on the Green have their fabulous Bistro menu available every Fri, Sat & Sun evenings. The Book Club continues monthly with Lady Vice Captain Sandra McMonagle. 25 Card nights every Wed night at 8pm and on Thurs nights, Bridge with Jimmy O’Donnell also at 8pm. Tonight Fri sees the return of the very popular quiz and putting competition with H McClafferty.
