Our Seniors and Reserves played away to Cloughaneely on Saturday afternoon on the final league match of the season.
The reserves started brightly and a Sean Rooney goal left them well in control at half-time. The second half was one way traffic and a further goal from Pauric Gormley meant the lads ran out victors to finish of a good season on a scoreline of 2-5 to 0-3.
The seniors, playing against a stiff breeze trailed by 7 points mid way through the first half but a mix up in the Cloughaneely defence left Pete Walsh through on goal to cut the deficit. Some great defensive work curbed the Cloughaneely threat for the remainder of the half and Naomh Brid tagged on 2 more points to trail at the break 0-8 to 1-3.
A good start to the second half saw Naomh Brid draw level but a Cloughaneely goal followed by a few points put them back in the driving seat.
A long range goal from Gary McCafferty left 2 between the sides again and with the lads piling on the pressure they managed to draw level in the last minute but couldn’t get the point to give them the much needed victory.
The games concluded the season for both sides and they will be back in Division 3 next season. There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. The jackpot now stands at €12, 650.
The winning numbers were; 9,15,17,20 and 22. Winners of €25 were; Kevin Heeney, Matt Griffith, P.J O’Driscoll and Eileen Sweeney. Next weeks draw will take place in the country in on 12th November.
