Captains Outing
The vice captain Joe Harkin led a group of Portsalon golfers to Headford in Co Meath for the traditional Captains (D P Logue) weekend away. Playing in excellent weather and with the courses manicured to look their very best the scoring was reflected in the conditions. The Captain D P Logue thanked his vice captain Joe Harkin for making the arrangements and to all who travelled on the week end trip. He thanked the Captain and all the staff of Headford for the hospitality shown to the Portsalon members.The overall prize went to the Captain D P Logue. On the daily basis the winner of the Saturday competition played on the old course was Kevin Mc Gonagle with 40 points from Donal Callaghan Jnr with 39 points. On Sunday playing on the new course the winner was Pascal Cullen with 35 points and runner up Eamon Mc Conigley with 33 points.
Winter Links
The third outing of the Portsalon Winter Links takes place on Saturday 27th October. Winter Links members are reminded to book their tee time for each outing. If you unable to play on the day please ensure that your name is removed for the time sheet, thus allowing someone else a place in this prestigious event.
New Members
Time is running out if you wish to avail of the special opportunity for new members to join Portsalon Golf Club and enjoy three months free golf . All you have to do is make your application pay your fees for 2013 and get November and December 2012 free. On Saturday 27th th October Portsalon Winter Links, Sunday 28th a members competition, Monday 29th a Ladies and Gents open competition and on Wednesday 31st October a gents open stableford competition. Local Rule-Stakes and Ropes
In order to protect the surrounds of our greens during the Autumn and Winter months Portsalon golf club will this year instead of having a white line in front of the greens have this replaced with a rope and stake system. All members and visitors are reminded that a local rule is in operation regarding the identified areas surrounding our greens.
Placing
As from Wednesday 1ST October six inch placing on all fairways only was introduced at Portsalon Golf Club.
Gaeltacht League
The next Gaeltacht League match will take place on Saturday 3rd November when Portsalon welcome Cruit Island Golf Club. The first tee is reserved from 10 a.m .

The winner of the Saturday open competition was Pat Green (10) 42 points
Runner Up: Conor Connolly (4) 39 points B.O.T Gross: Eamonn McDermott (3) 31 pointsThird: John Sandilands (20) 39 pointsB.O.T. The CSS was 35 points. On Sunday the winner of the members competition was Joe Logan (14) 42 points, runner up Cathal Canning (9) 38 points, Gross Eamon Mc Dermott (3) 31 points, third Sean Canning (19) 36 points. The CSS was 35 points

Clubhouse Tidy Up
Members are advised that any items left in the changing rooms after Wednesday 31st October will be removed. Please ensure that all your belongings are removed prior to 31st .

Members and visitors to Portsalon Golf Club should note that on line booking is now available for all competitions at Portsalon at the flick of a button go to portsalongolfclub.com
Booking Tee Times
Members are reminded that if they have booked a tee time or for another member , if either is not going to play on the day they should contact the clubhouse or go online and make the correction to the time sheet. On a number of occasions members have booked times and have not turned up, this is causing problems for members who wish to play and cannot due to the full time sheet.
Members Note
Members should note that all away scores should be recorded in the away scores book in the clubhouse
Divot Bags
Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
