A man who is alleged to have led Gardai on a 30km chase is expected to face more serious charges when he appears at Letterkenny District Court today.
Cathal Dunleavy, 23, from Glenvar, Kerrykeel, appeared in court facing sixteen motoring charges on Thursday last.
It follows an incident in the early hours of Thursday morning last when Dunleavy was allegedly spotted by Gardai in a car at Mountain Top in Letterkenny.
A pursuit then ensued and a number of Garda cars were involved in a chase.
The car in which Gardai alleged in court that Dunleavy was driving eventually crashed and was a write-off.
Dunleavy appeared in court where an application for bail by solicitor Donagh Cleary was refused by Judge Paul Kelly.
Garda Inspector Kevin Gately said he feared Dunleavy would not appear in court and that he also felt the accused posed a danger to himself and others.
He also suggested that Dunleavy will face more serious charges when he appears in court today.
