An American software company has given Donegal a huge vote of confidence by creating 20 jobs at its firm in Letterkenny.
KeyedIn Solutions, based at the LYIT, has announced it is to establish its European Software Research and Development Centre in the town.
The high-tech jobs will be created over the next three years and further growth is also predicted thereafter.
Chief Technical Officer with KeyedIn Solutions, Eugene Blaine, said they are a high growth company who were impressed by the people of Donegal.
“Donegal is a great location for KeyedIn due to the proximity of the Department of Computing at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology and availability of top talent in that area,” he said.
Although only set up a year ago, the company now employs 100 people worldwide.
Local Labour party Senator Jimmy Harte said the announcement confirmed Letterkenny is an attractive location for computing and software companies to set up home.
“The presence of the LYIT and the large employers such as Pramerica has attracted the attention of multinational software companies.
“It’s a vote of confidence in the town and in the county. The skills are here and this shows that we can attract sustainable employment that deals globally,” he said.
Joe McHugh TD has said that KeyedIn Solutions’ decision to establish its European Software Research and Development Centre at CO-Lab at the LYIT campus gives a sustainable boost to the local economy and will enhance Letterkenny as an industrial hub that is a national leader in technology and software development.

The jobs will be located in Co-Lab on the LYIT campus. Staff have begun moving into the new premises in the last 10 days.
“Donegal has many highly skilled IT graduates working in cutting-edge companies around the world. The political objective is to create the economic environment for potential start-ups like KeyedIn to locate in the northwest, in order to attract our highly skilled young people to come back home,” he said.
