Has the Council still a plan in place for the winter snow and ice?
ANSWER: The Winter Maintenance Plan as adopted by the members last year will be the strategy for this year also. The plan involves salting the approved routes as well as salting of the main footpath areas in the town. An initial fill of salt bunkers to the various housing estates will be provided, additional salt thereafter to be acquired from private suppliers. Additional snowploughs have also been acquired for the salting lorry and for use on footpaths where feasible to do so. The Town Council as always, will endeavour to work with local businesses and residents to keep the town accessible and moving for everyone, as best it can with the resources available.
Could I have an update on the ramps in Glencar Park that I requested?
ANSWER: The Council have a large number of requests for ramps in various estates throughout the town. A priority list would need to be drawn up and resources made available prior to any ramps being installed.

Can we get an update from the County Council in relation to their strategy for dealing with the Mechanical Plants?
ANSWER: The Workshop meeting to be held next Monday, 15th October, 2012 will have a specific item with regards to unfinished estates including an update on the policy of takeover of estates.
Have we had any response back from the Health Minister Dr. James Reilly in relation to our request for a meeting with him about Letterkenny General Hospital?
ANSWER: An acknowledgement to the Council’s request to meet the Minister was received on 19th September, 2012 advising that the matter would be brought to the attention of the Minister at the earliest opportunity.

When will the sign for Ballyraine be erected in this area?
ANSWER: When a suitable location has been agreed for the sign the Council will endeavour to erect the sign as requested.
What can the Council do in relation to properties that are not kept up to an acceptable standard regarding being overgrown, kept in a bad state of repair etc?
ANSWER: The Council normally endeavour to contact the relevant landowner, this approach has generally received a positive response in the past. Should this approach not be feasible or successful, a formal derelict site notice is served on the site, which can lead to a charge being put on the property.
Will the Council carry out its traffic study at the yellow box at the top of Main Street/High Road and report back to the Elected Members?
ANSWER; The Council will monitor the number of vehicles which are using the yellow box illegally and pass this information on as instructed by the members.

Could the Members have an update on any progress in relation to the previously discussed problems in Fairways Estate?
ANSWER: The Workshop meeting to be held next Monday, 15th October, 2012 will have a specific item with regards to unfinished estates including an update on the policy of takeover of estates. An update on the Fairways will be given by the relevant officials.
Could the Members have an update on how the Council plans to maximum benefit to Letterkenny, from Derry’s year as city of culture in 2013, from the point of view of tourism and events?
ANSWER: Donegal County Council have advised that the main benefit to the area will be accommodation. A discussion on how best to maximize this option and other benefits will take place with the Letterkenny Tourism Committee at a meeting this week.

When will works be carried out at Lower Main Street?
ANSWER: Prices are due back this week for the refurbishment of footpaths on Lower Main Street, between The Library and Larkins Lane on both sides of the street as well as refurbishment of the footpaths at the Market Square. It is hoped that the works will start before the end of October with a completion date scheduled for the end of November.
What plans are in place to ensure the town further in next years tidy towns competition?
ANSWER: The Council have already met with the Tidy Towns committee to discuss the recent report from this year. Plans are currently being considered to implement the recommendations in the report in time for the 2013 competition.
When will works be completed at Long Lane?
ANSWER: There are extensive lining works still to be completed as well as some repair work prior to the lining. It is hoped all works will be completed this month.

When will flooding problem and resurfacing at St. Eunan’s Terrace be addressed?
ANSWER: This issue will be assessed by the Council with a view to addressing the matters raised.
Could the Council replace “Yield Sign” at top of College Row with a more visible “Stop Sign”?
ANSWER: The Council will look at this junction to establish the most appropriate course of action to address the query.
