A lovely dry and sunny day made for perfect conditions for cross country running, with 328 juvenile athletes taking part, our biggest field of runners for several years. Well done to all the clubs from across the county that took part (the majority of clubs represented today) and a special word of thanks to Omagh, Olympian and Enniskillen for their participation and contribution to a good day’s athletics. Well done and thanks to the Finn Valley club for their hosting of the event, with everything running smoothly, and the full programme of 14 races run off in under three hours.
Next week, it’s the turn of the Uneven Ages and Novice Cross Country Championships which will be held in Fintra, Killybegs, with a 12pm start. Hopefully the big numbers turning out today will be out in force again next week. With the Ulster Championships for these same age groups and Novice being held at the same venue in a few weeks time, the opportunity to get a race over the course next Sunday will no doubt be beneficial to those looking to make an impact at the Ulsters.
