The accident scene in Meenaroy
FIVE fire appliances are at the scene of a horrific head-on road collision today.
Gardai and ambulance crews are also at the scene of the incident at Meenaroy on the main Letterkenny to Glenties road, on the outskirts of Glenswilly.
One vehicle, a VW Golf, has been pushed into a ditch.
The other car remains on the road.
Two Garda cars are controlling traffic in the area. There were long tailbacks at the time.
The incident happened just before 9.30am and two people have been taken to hospital.
“It was a really bad smash,” said one witness at the scene.
“The Toyota is a write-off and the Golf is also really badly damaged.”
Another witness said: “The incident is at the foot of Meenaroy and the road has been cleared on one side so that Gardai can operate and stop and go system.”
It has been confirmed that two people were treated for minor injuries.
