During an exchange in the Dáil An Taoiseach Enda Kenny told Deputy Doherty that he is unaware when the legislation will be brought forward.
Speaking afterwards Deputy Doherty said: “This is an astonishing admission from the Taoiseach. The Strategic Investment Fund, announced just one year ago last week, was to provide funds from the National Pension Reserve Fund for investment in the economy, provide capital for small and medium enterprises and the creation of jobs yet the Taoiseach cannot even tell me when the legislation to give effect to the fund will be tabled.
“Compare this to the eagerness with which the government can legislate for things such as the household charge or cuts to social welfare and we can clearly see where this government’s priorities lie.”
