Our senior and reserve teams done battle with Aodh Ruadh at the weekend in the first leg of the Intermediate Championship tie. In the reserve game Aodh Ruadh started brightly and an early goal put them in the driving seat. However Naomh Brid battled hard and a Stephen McDaid goal helped them get back into the game before half-time. In the second-half Naomh Brid found the going tough as Aodh Ruadh began to run at the defence and in the end Aodh Ruadh ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-5.
In the senior match Naomh Brid held a half time lead of 0-3 to 0-2 against the breeze but an early Aodh Ruadh in the second half put them in the driving seat. Naomh Brid chipped away at the points and with a few minutes remaining managed to find the lead again but a free in injury time gave Aodh Ruadh a lifeline and they pointed to leave the scores level at the finish on a scoreline of 0-8 to 1-5.
All roads lead to Fr.Tierney Pairc, Ballyshannon this weekend as both sides are in Championship action again this Sunday and its must win games for both teams. A win for the Reserves will guarantee them a playoff against Aodh Ruadh while a win for the seniors would put them through to the semi-final. The Reserve match has a throw-in of 1.30pm while the Seniors throw-in at 3pm.
