Senior Men
Milford 2-8 Robert Emmetts 1-13
Milford’s home campaign ended on Saturday in a disappointing two point defeat to promotion chasers Robert Emmetts. A depleted squad rallied well in the second, and after going in four points down at half time gave a much improved performance after the break. Unfortunately they had left themselves with too much to do after a relative ‘no show’ in the first half an hour. Indeed had a couple of late goal chances been taken the boys could have ran out winners. It is further proof that this team is underachieving in this division as Robert Emmetts are second in the league yet Milford looked the much better team in the second half and that should give them the confidence and belief in themselves to push on next year for promotion. Milford wrap up their season next week with an away game at Na Rossa. The players and management would like to thank the support they have received throughout the campaign.
Ladies Teams
Hard luck to the under 16 girls who made the journey to Annagry last week to play the county semi-final against the home team. Played in horrendous conditions the girls went in at half time 3 points down. Playing against a gael force wind in the second half they had it all to do but unfortunatly despite an heroic effort they were beaten by five points. They deserve great credit for reaching the semi final and can be very proud of their season.
The minor girls continued their great start to the season with an eight point win away to neighbours Fanad last Saturday morning. Going in at half time seven points up after playing with a strong wind they produced an heroic defensive second half display and made sure that Fanad never threatened the goal. Best for Milford were Orla McAteer, Rachael Coyle and Niamh Carr.
Congratulations to Lianne Boyce who last Friday night was named under 14 county player of the year.
Sam Came Back to Milford 2012!!
There are some great photos from the Milford homecoming up on our website and facebook page, special thanks to Ronan Molloy for his photos. There were truly amazing scenes last Wednesday and a credit to each and everyone for coming out and showing Jim and the boys the support they deserve, Jim and the team couldn’t get over the crowds. A big thanks to those people who have tagged the club in their own photos, we really appreciate it and if other Milford people out there that have photos could tag the club in any photos they have it would be great! Thanks again folks, great day for the wee town! Everyone should be very proud!
