Newlyweds Orla and John Sheridan should be gazing into eachother’s eye in the romantic city of Rome where they are on honeymoon.
Instead the lovebirds have decided to jet back to Ireland for Sunday’s All-Ireland final at Croke Park.
The couple then plan to jet back to the Italian capital after the big game to complete their romantic getaway.
The GAA-mad couple will jet into Dublin on Saturday and then fly back out on Monday.
Orla, who is from Castlefinn and John, who is from Creeslough, tied the knot on Saturday last in Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey and flew out to Italy last Monday.
Orla’s sister Mary Cooke said the couple are complete GAA fanatics and haven’t missed a game this year.
John, who plays for St Michaels in Creeslough, even arranged for his stag party to take place near Clones in Co Monaghan so he could attend the Ulster GAA Final.
The romantic Donegal man whisked Orla off to London in December 2010 and proposed to her at top of the London Eye.
Orla’s sister Mary said the couple are so in love but now there’s already three in their relationship!
“They had their flights booked but didn’t know if they were going to get tickets for the game.
“But when we got confirmation of tickets, they didn’t think about it for one minute and were planning the detour back to Dublin for the game.
“They’re hilarious – they’re only married a few days but there’s already three in the relationship – Orla, John and football.
“They go to almost all the games they can and John had to arrange his stag party so it was close to Clones so he and his friends could attend the Ulster Final.
“It’s going to be a great weekend and it would really get married life off to a great start if Donegal win the Sam Maguire.
“We just hope they’re able to get back to Rome to finish their honeymoon and don’t party to much of Donegal win.
“The craic here will be brilliant if Donegal win and they might have to finish their honeymoon another time,” laughed Mary.
The couple will be joined by many of their family and friends who have also secured tickets for the big game.
