Senior Men
Junior Championship Semi-Final
Milford 0-7 Downings 0-7
As expected it was a tight and cagey affair played in a damp day in Termon. It took a Caolan Mc Gettigan free deep into injury time to tie the game up and force a replay. It was a game lacking in tempo and excitement for most of the game and at half time Milford, backed by a decent breeze, went in 0-5 to 0-2 points up. The second half was much the same as Milford held their lead up until the last ten minutes as Downings struggled to break down Milford’s defence. Downings went into the lead right on the 60th minute but deep into injury time Milford won the ball in midfield before Pauric Curley’s run up the field resulted in a free that McGettigan tapped over. That was the last piece of action in the game as the referee blew the final whistle immediately after. Keep an eye on website and facebook page for details of replay.
Ladies
Junior Championship Final
Milford 7-8 St. Nauls 3-8
The ladies team brought the cup on a tour of the parish on Saturday evening as they brought home their second piece of silverware this season. In front of great support they totally dominated the game and put on a performance that will live long in the memory of those there to witness it. This is the fourth final the girls have been involved in in the last two years, winning all four of them. The next step now for the girls is the Ulster championship and they will play host to the Antrim champions in early October. It was great to see such a big crowd from the club at the game and the girls really appreciated it.
Under 16 Girls
The under 16 girls had a great win away to MacCumhails on Monday evening. They now play Glenties at home on Thursday with the winners of that game qualifying for the county semi-final on Saturday. Best of luck to the girls and hopefully they can continue on where the senior ladies left off.
